The Urban Ethnography Lab (UELab) explores a variety of methods that are employed in carrying out fieldwork in urban settings.

Among other methods, the UELab experiments with techniques in adapting the writing of ethnographic fieldnotes (as “thick description”) to high-density experiential and sensorial environments, works to increase the visibility of “go-alongs” as part of the ethnographic toolkit, and promotes the value produced by the visual aesthetics and rigor of various types of ethnographic mappings.
